Tomy Rotem is a musician, sound designer and DJ. Being the son of an established musician, Tomy has been involved with music and sound as an avid and creative autodidact since early childhood.
At the age of 14, Tomy started his professional music journey. focusing on music production and sound mixing for various Israeli hip-hop artists. Throughout the following years, Tomy kept balancing between production and mix for other artists, while also producing his solo projects under the moniker “Shiroto”. Since 2009, Tomy has gained reputation as a versatile and experienced music producer, working with notable Israeli musicians including Ravid Plotnik, Dana Berger, Shaanan Streett, and many others.
During the past couple of years, Tomy has also established his presence as a DJ, playing in venues all over Israel, and even performing a DJ set in Addis Ababa in April 2019. In October 2022, Tomy performed a live show & DJ set at Israel’s biggest indie festival “InDnegev”. In 2023, Tomy took part in the Jerusalem Film Festival’s prestigious DJ lineup. (JFF2023).
In addition, Tomy is a BFA Sound & Screen Arts student at Israel’s Sapir Academic College. Throughout his studies, Tomy has been focusing on composing original scores and sound design for short films, advertisements, and video art, collaborating with up-and-coming film, animation and video art directors. Tomy had been studying under award winning Israeli film composers and sound designers, such as the film composer Ishai Adar, the sound designer Avi Mizrahi and the orchestral conductor Shmuel Elbaz.
Tomy currently resides in Jerusalem and enjoys creating sample-based hip-hop beats, digging for rare records while studying for a BFA degree in cinema, DJing in Jerusalem and Tel-Aviv and excelling at cooking cult Jerusalemite Sephardic dishes in his spare time.
