Director Sivan Eyal‘s movie “Sun Too Hot” (2023) is now available to watch in full for free on Youtube!
I am responsible for The Sound Design work of this film, in cooperation with the perfect original score composed by my friend from my film studies in Sapir, the Brian Eno of Kibbutz Nir-Am, Shahar Dotan.
There are movies that while I’m working on them, I totally feel that something special is going to happen with the movie when it hits the screen, and this is totally one of those. Sivan created a short, courageous and particularly fasinating debut film that also participated in several European and US indie film festivals. It’s definitely not a movie you see every day. And with endless hope and humility, I hope that my Sound Design manages to accompany the film well.

Original Ambient-Dark Score and Sound Design by me for a breathtaking video work that was created by director and friend, Ron Altbrothe.
This piece holds a Dark-Ambient aesthetic, i scored it with focusing on creating Ambient Pads, playing Cello, Piano, a Drum Machine and a Detuned Bass Guitar.
we were both looking for a way to continue creating, despite what we are going through in this impossible time. Ron captured intimate and minimalist shots. Somewhere in Israel, far from the horrors. She sent me sound clips from interviews and real-time recordings from that one horrible Black Saturday in southern Israel (Oct. 7, 2023), the final result is heartbreaking and hard to digest.
Moments of peace, unity and silence crashes with unimaginable recordings of souls in moments of complete helplessness.
This is the most emotionally triggered project for me that I may have worked on so far in my life.

The official trailer for Alma Keni & Aviv Gafni’s Archive based-Documentary short: “Ugh, Listen”.

I had such an amazing experience and pleasure being in charge for the Sound Design of this short animation film, and i also was lucky to score the original music for it.
this film is about multiple young woman sending WhatsApp voice notes to one busy friend, whining about anything you can think of: from the shallowest complains to the deepest mental crisis. this movie handles multiple sceneries that has their own character and story. i did my best “gluing” these stories together with both Sound Design and Music.

Tomy Rotem is a musician, sound designer and DJ. Being the son of an established musician, Tomy has been involved with music and sound as an avid and creative autodidact since early childhood.

At the age of 14, Tomy started his professional music journey. focusing on music production and sound mixing for various Israeli hip-hop artists. Throughout the following years, Tomy kept balancing between production and mix for other artists, while also producing his solo projects under the moniker “Shiroto”. Since 2009, Tomy has gained reputation as a versatile and experienced music producer, working with notable Israeli musicians including Ravid Plotnik, Dana Berger, Shaanan Streett, and many others.

During the past couple of years, Tomy has also established his presence as a DJ, playing in venues all over Israel, and even performing a DJ set in Addis Ababa in April 2019.
In October 2022, Tomy performed a live show & DJ set at Israel’s biggest indie festival “InDnegev”.
In 2023, Tomy took part in the Jerusalem Film Festival’s prestigious DJ lineup. (JFF2023).

In addition, Tomy is a BFA Sound & Screen Arts student at Israel’s Sapir Academic College. Throughout his studies, Tomy has been focusing on composing original scores and sound design for short films, advertisements, and video art, collaborating with up-and-coming film, animation and video art directors.
Tomy had been studying under award winning Israeli film composers and sound designers, such as the film composer Ishai Adar, the sound designer Avi Mizrahi and the orchestral conductor Shmuel Elbaz.

Tomy currently resides in Jerusalem and enjoys creating sample-based hip-hop beats, digging for rare records while studying for a BFA degree in cinema, DJing in Jerusalem and Tel-Aviv and excelling at cooking cult Jerusalemite Sephardic dishes in his spare time.

this is a short animation sequence that draws inspiration from the Aztec Mythology and Space Aesthetics from Sci-Fi and Fantasy Films. i scored a music cue that blends Ambient and Ethnic/Tribal Elements. it also draws heavy inspiration from Ambient genre giants such as Brian Eno.

Here’s a short music piece that i composed for Director Ron Altbrote’s short film “Bsorot Tovot”. (“Good Tidings”).

Ron approached me with a demand for a Smooth, Lo-Fi Hiphop instrumental that would replace a popular existing song in her movie that was shelved due to copyright issues. the progress of this composition was lots of fun (not to mention that Hiphop and Beats are my musical home).
